Safer Internet Day in Germany

Safer Internet Day is an international day of action, held each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones. In Germany, the Awareness Centre klicksafe initiates and coordinates activities and events on Safer Internet Day. The aim of klicksafe is to encourage as many institutions, organisations, companies, schools and other groups as possible to participate in the day with actions of their own. klicksafe collects and publishes information on all SID projects on


Safer Internet Day 2015
With regard to Safer Internet Day 2015 klicksafe has started various activities to involve people and initiatives all over Germany in promoting SID. As the central element of our SID campaign klicksafe will organise a press conference in Berlin with experts from the klicksafe team, external partners and prominent guests. Information about the klicksafe focus topic and new materials to be published will follow soon.

Review: Safer Internet Day 2014

On February 11th, klicksafe organised a press conference in Berlin which focused on "Mobile Internet". Representatives of the media, the educational sector, NGOs and government participated in the press event as well as members of the Saferinternet DE Advisory Board. Furthermore, klicksafe celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Safer Internet Day in Germany.

Apart from the klicksafe activities, more than 200 events and activities took place at schools, libraries, institutions etc. (list of national events).

The German Safer Internet Centre

In Germany, the Safer Internet Programme is being implemented by the Saferinternet DE consortium. Apart from the Awareness Centre klicksafe, the consortium consists of the Hotlines (implemented by eco and FSM) and as well as the Helpline Nummer gegen Kummer.

klicksafe is a mutual project of the Central Authority for Media and Communication Rhineland-Palatinate (LMK), which is responsible for coordination, and the Media Authority for North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM).
