Safer Internet Day in Germany
Safer Internet Day is an international day of action, held each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones. In Germany, the Awareness Centre klicksafe initiates and coordinates activities and events on Safer Internet Day. The aim of klicksafe is to encourage as many institutions, agencies, enterprises and other groups as possible to participate in the day with actions of their own. klicksafe collects and publishes information on all SID projects on www.klicksafe.de/sid.
Safer Internet Day 2013
With regard to Safer Internet Day 2013 klicksafe will start various activities to involve people and initiatives all over Germany in promoting SID. As the central element of our SID campaign klicksafe will organise a press conference in Berlin in cooperation with several partners from policy, industry, NGOs and the German Safer Internet Centre.

Review: Safer Internet Day 2012
On February 7th, klicksafe organised a press conference in Berlin which focused on "Resposibility on the internet". Representatives of the media, the educational sector, NGOs and government participated in the press event as well as members of the Saferinternet DE Advisory Board. Furthermore, klicksafe organised an online-campaign which focused on ideas to create and discuss ideas for more resposibility online.
Apart from the klicksafe activities, more than 150 national events took place at schools, universities etc (list of national events).
The German Safer Internet Centre
In Germany, the Safer Internet Programme is being implemented by the Saferinternet DE consortium. Apart from the Awareness Centre klicksafe, the consortium consists of the Hotlines internet-beschwerdestelle.de (implemented by eco and FSM) and jugendschutz.net as well as the child Helpline Nummer gegen Kummer.
klicksafe is a mutual project of the Central Authority for Media and Communication Rhineland-Palatinate (LMK), which is responsible for coordination, and the Media Authority for North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM).
