SID Kit 2012 - Competitions SID Kit 2012 - Competitions

For SID 2012 we ran two competitions for the younger generation…although in the spirit of the Safer Internet Day 2012 theme of ‘Connecting generations’, other members of the school or family were welcome to get involved too!

  • SID poster competition
For this competition, we invited children and young people to create an Acceptable Use Policy* poster using the initials ‘SID’, or based around the theme of ‘Connecting generations’.

    * An Acceptable Use Policy (also known as an AUP or fair use policy) is a set of rules and guidelines for the way in which technology and online content and services can be used. It aims to both keep users safe and protect the network or system from misuse. See our examples in the
SID kit for schools for further ideas.
  • SID video competition
For this competition, we invited children and young people to create a short video clip (maximum of 2 minutes) on the theme of ‘Connecting generations’.

For both competitions, there were three categories of entry:

  • 9 years old and under
  • 10-14 years old
  • over 14 years old.

Entries were accepted online from 1-29 February 2012 inclusive. Prizes included games (courtesy of our competition sponsors Microsoft) and, for older winners, the chance of taking part in an ‘online safety’ summer camp in Romania!

We have had a fantastic response - thank you! Due to the large number of entries, it took us a little longer than expected to judge the competition entries. Shortlisting is now completed, and all winners have been contacted (by email). Please note, you will not have been notified if your entry was unsuccessful.
