WELCOME TO THE SAFER INTERNET DAY WEBSITE Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. Safer Internet Day 2012 took place on Tuesday 7 February 2012, centred on the theme "Connecting generations and educating each other", where we encouraged users young and old to "discover the digital world together...safely"! This website aims to showcase the many exciting activities and events that took part across the globe to celebrate the day. Click on the map below to get started, using the zoom control to locate the events in your country. Alternatively, visit the 'SID Near You' section to explore news from the many countries and institutions that took part. Alternatively check out the 'SID blog' for the latest updates, and see some of the great resources created as part of the campaign in the 'SID gallery'. We hope you enjoy your visit, and please don't forget to come back often...we will soon start releasing information on SID 2013, which will be the tenth edition of the event. We hope therefore to make it bigger and better than ever before, starting with making the Safer Internet Day website a vibrant and thriving resource all year round. If you have ideas for SID 2013, or would like to convene a SID Committee or organise a SID activity in your own country, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us at sid-helpdesk@eun.org.
