Safer Internet Day 2013 was a huge success

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

Safer Internet Day 2013 was the tenth edition of the event, and took place on Tuesday 5 February 2013. The theme for the day was 'Online rights and responsibilities', when we encouraged users to 'Connect with respect'.

This website showcases some of the exciting activities and events that took place across the globe to celebrate the day. ECPAT International youth-led study from Latin America on the linkages between the use of the Internet and the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

This innovative regional study, led by children and young people from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Uruguay and Chile, identified the increasing violation of children’s rights and the need for greater protection measures to prevent the negative impact of further advancement of technologies on children’s lives.

We are very pleased to share this study on the special event of the 10th Safer Internet day.
