Let’s create a better internet together
Safer Internet Day 2015 will take place on 10th February 2015, with the theme 'Let's create a better internet together'.
The day offers the opportunity to focus on both the creative things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role and responsibility that all stakeholders have in helping to create a better internet.
2015 is promising to be an action-packed year for Safer Internet Day India, with hundreds of Schools, Clubs, Associations, Organisations and Individuals having already registered at our Website, committing to hold various events, contests and Seminars on the 10th February. For first time, we have a country-wide participation from 15 states across India having confirmed and many more expected in these days. These are from the States of Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himchal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand.
A signature SID event is planned in New Delhi on the 10th with hundreds of School children in attendance. Leading COPE and Cyber experts will address the gathering and Delhi Schools SID contest prize winners would be awarded at the event. There will also be a SID stand with Handouts for students and parents and some fun photo ops.
Planned Schools / Clubs level contests include: Smartphone-made Short film contest, Live Digital Painting competition and a host of offline contests including Painting, Essay writing etc.
A big Social media Campaign via our Safer Internet Day India Facebook page is currently running sucessfully attracting over 6,000 likes. A new Hashtag #SaferInternetDayIndia has been created for Twitter and Facebook with media from Student events expected to be tagged as they are shared online. A 'Twibbon' Campaign was also launched through which young people can show their support for SID by a dding a SID Mascot Badge to thier Facebook and Twitter Profile pictures via the Twibbon App. We have also promoted the SID Thunderclap campaign with the SID message expected to be posted on thousands of young people's pages on the 10th of February.
Two SID Training Webinars were held to meet the objective of informing and empowering School Faculty / Organisational personnel on how to effectively conduct Safer Internet Day in their cities. These are viewable online at our website.
A Safer Internet Day PowerPoint Presentation for Schools was developed (based on resource from NetSmartzKids) whcih is made available to download from the SID India Website's Resources page.
A campaign to Wear a Yellow Ribbon on SID is being promoted encouraging students, parents and all concerned citizens to wear a golden yellow ribbon to School / College / Workplace on the 10th to raise awareness on the issue.
Downloadable print-ready SID Promotional Graphic Artworks for various SID Branding and Merchandise items including Rollups, Banners, Capts & T shirts are also available to download on the website.
