Presentation and Interaction session with the group of youth regarding the online safety. These were highlights of the event:

  • Social Networking (primarily Facebook): Privacy settings, applications, device registration,

  • Email spoofing and spamming

  • Identifying phishing websites

Venue: Lalitpur
SID Committee Nepal will be having a seminar on Online Rights and Responsibility. This program will be targetted for the IT professionals, Students, Business people etc.

  • General awareness of posting on the wall, digital identity and removing profile from search engines.

  • Fake profiles in social networking sites

  • Email spoofing and spamming

SID 2011: Safer Internet Day Fair

To conclude the Safer Internet Month, Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel Manjushree organized SID Fair, at South Asian Institute of Management, Kathmandu. The seminar was conducted in two sessions, one for IT professionals and the other for general audience. The session for general audience was facilitated by members of the club, while for the professionals by an ardent online-security researcher, Mr. Bibek Shrestha.

In a nutshell, these were highlights of both the sessions:

  • Social Networking (primarily Facebook): Privacy settings, applications, device registration, general awareness of posting on the wall, digital identity and removing profile from search engines.

  • Fake profiles in social networking sites

  • Email spoofing and spamming

  • Identifying phishing websites

  • Social engineering and password trap

  • Minimum secure password length and change policy

  • URL scams

  • SQL injections

 There were all together over 80 participants in both the sessions.

Next
