Safer Internet Centre - Russia

Safer Internet Centre – Russia is a combined Safer Internet Centre which includes an awareness-raising and research division, hotline, helpline, Youth Panel, as well as several special thematic projects. The Centre was founded in 2008 by ROCIT (Internet-society NGO) and Soprotivlenie (victim support NGO) and works under support of Public Chamber of Russian Federation and Child Ombudsman of Russian Federation. Since 2010, Safer Internet Centre - Russia is a member of Insafe network.


Safer Internet Centre – Russia performs different types of awareness-raising and educating activities online and offline and research work. It operates a hotline and a helpline and runs Safer Internet Day activities in Russia since 2008. Also, the Centre is a bridge for cooperation and partnership by government, industry and civil society for making the Internet a safer and more comfortable place for children and families.

Safer Internet Day – 2012 activities in Russia

Safer Internet Centre – Russia and ROCIT since 2008 traditionally run Safe Runet Week (rus. Nedelya Bezopasnogo Runeta) – a group of public awareness-raising events dedicated to Safer Internet Day. This year the Week will start on January 31 and end on February 7.

is year, the events of Safe Runet Week will be traditionally held in Moscow and regions of Russia (in 2011, we had 43 participating regions). They include conferences, roundtables, exhibitions, promotions of safer internet services and awareness-raising programmes. Main events of the Week will be held in Moscow and are the following:

  • January 31 – Press-conference "Illegal content online: trends and statistics for 2011" in RIA Novosti information agency with participation of LEA officials, industry and civil society experts (includes presentation of Hotline report for the 2nd half of 2011);

  • February 2 – Videoconference for out-of-school educators between Moscow and regions of Russia. The event will be traditionally held in Russian State Children’s Library, regional spots will be held in regional NGOs and youth libraries;
  • February 2 – Open child online safety lesson, held by MTS mobile operator in Polytechnical Museum.
  • February 3 – Expert roundtable "Safer Internet at Schools", held together with traditional Safe Runet Week partner - Syostri Centre.
  • February 5 – Radio broadcast on “Voice of Russia” about child online safety issues with participation of experts;
  • February 6-7 – Safer Internet Day Forum (based on i-safety 2012 conference), held in Public Chamber of Russian Federation:
    • February 6 - Expert Forum for adult experts (from industry, NGOs, government and research organizations);
    • February 7 – Children’s Safer Internet Forum, held in Public Chamber of Russian Federation, which will include opening ceremony, workshop discussions for children and youth moderated by Youth Panel members, videoconference with regional Youth Panels, discussion with well-known creators of positive content and bloggers.

SID 2011: Safe Runet Week in Russian Cities

Safe Runet Week (Nedelya Bezopasnogo Runeta) – a group of public events which are dealing with the issues of promoting safer use of the Internet among children and parents. Safe Runet Week – 2010 lasted from February 2, 2010 till February 9, 2010 and included events in Moscow and in other regions of Russia.

Safe Runet Week is devoted to Safer Internet Day and is the Russian contribution in Safer Internet Day activities. This year Safe Runet Week was held for the third time. Besides Moscow, 35 regions of Russian Federation (37 cities) took part in Safe Runet Week - 2010 (in 2009 – four regions).
