ConnectSafely.org is pleased to coordinate U.S.-based activities for Safer Internet Day.

SaferInternetDay.us offers a complete look at our plans, which include the “One Good Thing” campaign to make kindness go viral and a special youth-driven event we’ll host on February 10 in California.

One Good Thing Campaign

ConnectSafely.org encourages all Americans to share "One Good Thing" they've done or will do to make the Internet a better place or the world a better place using the Internet. All users—young people, parents, educators, law enforcement people, policymakers and organizations—are encouraged to participate by posting short (20- to 30-sec.) videos or text comments at OneGoodThing.org.

California Event

ConnectSafely will share people's "One Good Thing" at a Safer Internet Day event on Feb. 10 at Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. The event will be broadcast live starting at 2 p.m. PST at SaferInternetDay.us and Facebook/Safety.

Along with a "One Good Thing" presentation, the event will feature two panel discussions, "Beyond Bullying: Dealing with Trolling & Social Cruelty" and "Using Technology to Effect Social Change," featuring youth participants, experts and tech industry representatives. Also in attendance will be policy makers and media.

Get Involved

ConnectSafely encourages everyone, especially youth, to mark Safer Internet Day in some way, with One Good Thing submissions, family or class discussions, or events such as a parents’ night at a library, school, senior facility or community center. For ideas, click here.
