About our SID activities
On Safer Internet Day, Chicos.net and Tik Tok will launch the campaign #EligeTuForma (#ChooseYourWay).
With the aim of raising awareness among teenagers, families and teachers about the risks and possibilities offered by digital media, the web www.eligetuforma.org will offer a series of videos and resources to dialogue with young people on different topics related to the use of the internet.
Grooming, dangerous challenges, cyberbullying, hate speech, screen time, misinformation, the importance of consent, personal image and self-esteem, the digital footprint, are some of the topics that are proposed to address in the family, and thus stimulate a healthy and safe experience in the networks. The website will also have a section of resources for teachers, with activities to be carried out in educational spaces.
That same week, registrations will be open for a webinar "The most difficult challenge: How to speak with teenagers about what they do in social media", in which specialists will talk about the impact of social networks on the self-esteem of children and adolescents.
What we are doing to support the SID 2022 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…
To create a better internet, we empower children, adolescents and young people to have a critical and creative use of digital media.
A key aspect in the design of our initiatives is the participation of children and adolescents because we believe that in order to achieve changes, we must work with them in the spaces where they are, take into account their opinions, and be constantly updated about their problems and needs.
In addition, at Chicos.net we work from a holistic approach, which seeks to empower the different guarantors of the rights of children and adolescents, starting with the family, the school and non-formal education institutions, and also calling on state agencies, civil society organisations and the private sector to work together to implement programmes aimed at the community, and to promote public policies and regulations that protect rights.
Our work of more than 20 years is marked by the quality of our programs, adapted to real social needs, and aimed at ensuring that digital media guarantee the right of children, adolescents and young people to education, information, social inclusion, participation and to live in environments free of violence.
We are a non-profit civil organisation that works to promote the fulfillment of children's rights in digital environments, a team of people passionate about education and digital media.
We believe that children and adolescents are not only the future, but the present, and that they have a lot to say. As inhabitants of the digital ecosystem, they need to be trained to exercise full digital citizenship with values and resources to take care of themselves and express themselves with freedom and creativity.
That is why our mission is to educate, empower, inspire, include and facilitate equal opportunities for the full exercise of the rights of children, adolescents and young people, through initiatives that incorporate digital media in a safe, responsible, meaningful and creative way.
To this end, we work every day with a professional and multidisciplinary team that provides us with a comprehensive vision of the issues and challenges we address.
In collaboration with other organisations, public agencies and the private sector, we promote projects and programmes for boys and girls, families, teachers, and the whole community. We also carry out surveys and research to learn about the main trends and global demands on the issues we address, as well as advocacy on the issues that require it.
