Australian Safer Internet Day Committee - Office of the eSafety Commissioner

About our SID activities

Australia’s eSafety Commissioner supports Safer Internet Day (SID) each year with a national campaign. The campaign includes online safety resources and activities for parents and carers, educators, policy-makers, businesses and community organisations.

We have a dedicated Safer Internet Day web page and offer online safety tips, parent webinars, virtual classrooms, and promotional materials to help spread the word. Some of Australia’s largest companies also use our online safety resources to promote Safer Internet Day through their networks.

The Safer Internet Day campaign generates significant media and social media coverage and continues to gain momentum each year. This exposure raises awareness about online safety and helps Australians know where to go for support and advice about being safer online.

What we are doing to create a better internet:

Our campaign encourages all Australians to take three simple actions when approaching online safety: Connect. Reflect. Protect.

  • Connect safely by keeping apps and devices secure and reviewing your privacy settings regularly.
  • Reflect on how your actions online may affect others or your safety.
  • Protect yourself and others by visiting eSafety.gov.au to find out how to stay safe online and report online abuse.
We're encouraging supporters to share video messages on social media, use the campaign assets to promote online safety messages at work and school, and consider simple actions like Connect. Reflect. Protect can help work towards making every day a Safer Internet Day.

About us

The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) is Australia’s independent regulator for online safety. We educate Australians about online safety risks and help remove harmful content such as cyberbullying of children and young people, adult cyber abuse, image-based abuse, and illegal and restricted content.
