About our SID activities

On Tuesday, 8 February 2022, we will celebrate the 19th edition of Safer Internet Day (SID) with actions taking place all over the world. With the theme “Together for a better internet”, we call on all stakeholders on this day to work together to make the internet a safer and better place for everyone, especially children and young people.

On SID 2022, the Dutch Safer Internet Centre (SIC) will be organising some interesting events together with its partners.

Together with Veiliginternetten.nl, the S-unit and Alert-online we have made a special edition of the Donald Duck magazine, called the DigiDuck. In this DigiDuck you can read and see adventures of Donald and his friends regarding the digital world. What are the things you should pay attention to?; how can you avoid cyberbullying?; what is important regarding passwords, and so on.

These DigiDucks have been distributed to 118,000 home-addresses and to all libraries in the Netherlands.

What we are doing to support the SID 2022 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…

For today's children and young people, the digital world is an inseparable part of their lives. To help them to use the digital world in an optimal and safe a way as possible, we have to pay permanent attention to skills, responsibility and safety. But children and youngsters cannot take care of a safe online environment, taking the right responsibilities, or gain the right skills, all by themselves. They need help, guidance and education.

It is important that a broad public-private coalition of parties takes responsibility for the digital safety and skills of young people, and to help parents and teachers to guide and educate them. The Dutch Safer Internet Centre (SIC) brings together those stakeholders for its activities and to achieve the objectives. Together for a better internet.

About us

The Dutch Safer Internet Centre (SIC) consists of three organisations: ECP | Platform for the Information Society, Netwerk Mediawijsheid and EOKM.
