About our SID activities
Oman National CERT will celebrate Safer Internet Day (SID) 2021 on 9 February. This year SID's theme is "Together for a better internet", offering the opportunity to focus on both the creative activities that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role we all play in helping to create a better internet. An online awareness campaign, cyber treasure hunt competition, school programmes and parent's sessions are to be held to raise awareness among the society segments on cyber security.
What we are doing to support the SID 2021 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…
Oman National CERT is working to align with stakeholders to provide a secure online environment for children and youth in order to utilise the services offered over the internet; whereby they feel safe and secure. OCERT's mission, through its national Child Online Protection project, is to build an awareness programme for children and parents, to safely browse the internet knowing all the risk related and how to deal with them. Moreover, it also aims to provide them with tools and knowledge to ease the process of utilising the internet's massive world.
Oman National CERT was officially launched in April 2010 to analyse risks and security threats that may be present in cyberspace, and communicates this information to users of internet services and technical information outlets, whether they are public or private institutions, or individuals. This added sense of security will also help to build trust when using government eServices. With the current emphasis on expanding and positioning the Official eGovernment Services Portal as the point of contact using government electronic services, enabling users to feel confident interacting with these services is crucial.
To provide world-class cyber-security capability whereby computer and internet users feel safe and secure using information communication technology (ICT).
OCERT's mission is to build cyber-security capabilities to increase the capacity of security incident detection and emergency responses to such incidents and also ensure cyber-security awareness in public and private sector organisations, including citizens and residents.
