About our SID activities
Safer Internet Day is the flagship event under the Better Internet for Kids EU Commission strategy. Each year, more and more countries get involved to spread the word about responsible use of the internet.

What we are doing to support the SID 2020 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…
Under its Better Internet for Kids Strategy, the European Commission facilitates and supports actions in Member States and brings together actors, such as representatives from youth, policy makers, platforms, technology industry and civil society, to work in cooperation for a better internet.
The Commission plays its part in promoting and providing a safer and better internet. The Better Internet for Kids Strategy includes:
- financial support to Safer Internet Centres in Member States plus Iceland and Norway;
- coordination and funding at EU level through the betterinternetforkids.eu platform; and
- contribution in setting up a regulatory framework.
The Commission also acts as a facilitator of self-regulatory initiatives, such as the Alliance to better protect minors online.
