Côte d'Ivoire Safer Internet Day Committee - FGI Côte d'Ivoire

Last updated: 2023-02-02

About our SID activities

SID is an annual global event aiming to enable young people to take control of their digital lives by encouraging them to adopt healthy and responsible online behaviours. The day is organised by FGI Côte d'Ivoire, in collaboration with Youth FGI Côte d'Ivoire and partners.

Safer Internet Day (SID) 2023 actions in Côte d'Ivoire include:

  • An interactive exchange visit with young people in a high school and media coverage.
  • Another objective of the workshop is to provide young people with useful tools and techniques to navigate safely and fight hate speech online - the latter of which we have seen increasing considerably on Ivorian social networks.
  • A workshop to give a voice to young people from Côte d'Ivoire to share their experiences when using the internet.
  • A radio and television programme on the dangers of social networks for children and young people.

What we are doing to support the SID 2023 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…

What we are doing to mark the 20th anniversary of Safer Internet Day…

With the internet being a development tool, it is for this reason that we accompany young people and parents so that they know the benefits of the internet, and know how to better protect themselves online. If many of them have learned the best practices, it can be spread throughout the community and we will have a better internet.
