The School of Social Networks

Last updated: 2023-01-23

About our SID activities

School of Social Networks has disseminated over 3,4 million advice to teachers and parents to help them better protect themselves online.
In 2023, our main focus was deploying initiatives in France's Reunion territory. We distributed a deck of cards from the social media school to all schools in the area, accompanied by a communication campaign broadcasted by academic services. Additionally, we have created new outdoor activities to explore innovative and playful ways of preventing risks associated with social media. Then, we continued our deployment in Canada through partnerships with key organisations working on digital citizenship topics.
In 2024, we are preparing to launch an ambitious program, STOP Cyber Violence, aimed at providing a systemic response to reduce online cyber violence experienced by young individuals.

What we are doing to create a better internet…

Children access social media at an increasingly young age, regardless of age restrictions, which should – in theory – be in place. As such, they face online risk and harm, often without their parents being aware. Policymakers and industry must step up efforts to create a better internet for children. Meanwhile, The School of Social Network is there to help parents and teachers to act and make a difference.
The School of Social Networks platform combines an engaging chatbot experience for children with rich educational materials and activities. In this way, it provides a starting point for discussion so that children learn to understand online risks and opportunities in dialogue with their peers, teachers and parents while exploring the digital world.

About us

Despite regulations, studies show that the vast majority of children don’t wait to reach the legal age to access social networks. Uninformed and unprepared, they are exposed to major risks.
The School of Social Networks addresses this issue by providing free educational material to parents, educators and institutions.
The School of Social Networks aims to offer material to educate children in elementary school on how to use social media safely and responsibly by letting them interact and experiment with chatbots in a fun, safe and pedagogical online environment.
The School of Social Networks provides a starting point for an ongoing conversation between children, parents and teachers while raising awareness of the role established online safety stakeholders play at the national level.
