What we are doing to create a better internet…

As an industry, we are committed to the protection of minors - it’s in our DNA. Europe's video game companies constantly strive to enable young players to enjoy their games in an appropriate environment. We provide parental controls on games and consoles and the Pan European Gaming Information system (PEGI) used in 38 countries across Europe, provides information on the content of a game and the appropriate age for a player at the point of purchase.

We recommend parents, caregivers, and educators follow these tips to manage responsible gameplay

Check the game’s PEGI rating and use parental controls
The regularly updated PEGI age rating and content descriptors are best-in-class examples of co- and self-regulation that enable measures for the protection of minors to keep up with the fast-moving industry and game innovations.

All video games consoles, handheld devices, and PC and Mac operating systems include parental control systems, and there are additional apps available to help parents manage online interaction, playtime, spending, and access to age-appropriate video games. See the relevant links below.

Play games with your children and start a conversation
In an ever-evolving digital environment, it is crucial that parents talk to their children and take an interest in their online activities. The video games industry actively encourages this because we know from research that families who play together and/or take the time to discuss video gameplay with their children have the fewest arguments and reap the greatest benefits from play.

Be fully informed in your language
Please take a look at the many easy-to-use resources provided by national video games trade associations and their partners around Europe for information in your language on how to manage responsible gameplay, as well as for tips and guidance on which games to play with your family and information on the most popular video games.
