Together for a better internet

Safer Internet Day takes place in February of each year to raise awareness of a safer and better internet for all, and especially for children and young people.

As part of this annual celebration, we encourage everyone - including children and young people, parents and caregivers, teachers and educators, policymakers, industry and others - to join "Together for a better internet". Save the date for Safer Internet Day 2024 which will take place on Tuesday, 6 February 2024.

The 2023 edition of Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday, 7 February 2023. Noting the global reach of the Safer Internet Day campaign, on this site you can discover more about the actions of European Safer Internet Centres (SICs), global Safer Internet Day Committees, and a range of organisational and industry supporters to mark the day. As usual, much of the campaign's activity played out on social media. Be sure to check our Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn profiles, and review the #SaferInternetDay and #SID2023 hashtags to see the discussions from the day.

Safer Internet Day: a day of inspiration for a better internet

Tuesday, 7 February, marked the 20th edition of the global Safer Internet Day under the motto "Together for a better internet". More and more schools, parents and young people contact Child Focus' helpline for questions about online safety or call specialised centres to guide them in their media use. Professionals and parents need tips and tools to assist children and young people in their digital exploration. 

Safer Internet Day 2023 celebrations in Albania, the national platform for a safe internet in Albania, which also functions as the national line for children's internet safety, is a national service established by CRCA/ECPAT Albania in 2015. It has as its main mission the reporting and removal of harmful materials on the internet, social networks and online media that contain sexual violence against children and adolescents, bullying and extreme violence against children and young people, as well as the language of hate crimes.
