About our SID activities

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2023, we have prepared a handbook with tips on how to celebrate and organise this day in cooperation with the JSNS, helplines of Linka bezpečí and Dětské krizové centrum, the Police of the Czech Republic, and the Palacký University in Olomouc.

In cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, we will organise an expert panel on this day at the Experience Magenta Center, OC Arkády Pankrác, Prague 4, focusing on the following topics: increasing cybercrime as a phenomenon; internet security - prevention of increasing cybercrime; increasing digital competences; and the role media and media education in connection with the prevention of cybercrime. It will be possible to participate in the conference both in person and via online stream.

On this day, members of the Youth Panel will introduce new comic characters who will introduce followers to the pitfalls of the cyber world and give advice on the Instagram profile of the Safer Internet Centre CZ.

What we are doing to support the SID 2023 slogan of "Together for a better internet"…

Fulfilling the slogan "Together for a better internet" is at the very core of SIC CZ's approach to the topic in question. After all, our leading vision is to become a unifying centre for all activities and actors who deal with the issue of safe internet in the Czech Republic.
We cooperate with various actors, disseminate our outputs and knowledge openly and free of charge, coordinate meetings of stakeholders (Advisory Board) and youth (Youth Panel), create awareness and educational campaigns and resources, run a hotline and/or are actively involved in European activities such as the Insafe and INHOPE networks.
In addition, as the operator of the national CERT/SCIRT team, we connect expertise in the field of cyber security with issues of protection of children and youth on the internet. Last but not least, we are succeeding in gaining important partners and personalities for the topic of a safe internet for all, for example in the form of MEP Dita Charanzová, the Vice-President of the European Parliament. MEP Charanzová actively communicates and disseminates safer internet issues throughout various channels and has been cooperating with us for a long time in general.

What we are doing to mark the 20th anniversary of Safer Internet Day…

As part of the 20th edition of the SID campaign, we invite to get involved not only organisations that deal with security, prevention, education and intervention on the internet, but also the general public, including children, students and parents, or state and educational institutions.

About us

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the Safer Internet Centre Czech Republic (SIC CZ), operated by the CZ.NIC Association. The centre is built on three pillars: awareness and education; a hotline called; and a helpline run by our partner organisations Linka bezpečí and Dětské krizové centrum. The People in Need organisation takes care of media education in the ongoing project.
CZ.NIC is an interest association of legal entities whose long-term goal is to support the development of the internet community. The core task of the Association is the administration and security of operation of the top-level national.CZ domain registry. Activities in the field of security are not less important and are delivered both through the Czech CSIRT.CZ National Security Team and numerous security projects.
In addition to these activities, the Association is dedicated to research and development in the field of the internet, internet protocols or network traffic.
Finally, CZ.NIC provides a wide range of education and awareness initiatives related to internet safety and new technologies. Most of them are run mainly through the SIC CZ.
SIC CZ is a widely respected partner in the field of secure internet with established cooperation across the private, public and non-profit sectors.
